Tracy Kleeman is a Los Angeles-based director, writer, producer and editor with more than 15 years of experience bringing stories to life across studio features, television, short-form narrative films, commercials, branded content and social-first storytelling.
Having worn nearly every hat throughout her career, from writing and directing to producing, shooting, editing and production management, Tracy brings an unusually well-rounded understanding of both the creative and logistical sides of bringing a project to life. She has often self-produced her own work from concept through completion, giving her the resourcefulness to dream big while understanding exactly what it takes to make those ideas happen.
A New Hampshire native who moved to Los Angeles to chase the wildly reasonable dream of making movies for a living, Tracy began her directing career while working alongside filmmaker James Wan. She served as Wan’s assistant on Warner Bros. and DC’s Aquaman, spending much of 2017 on location in Australia, and continued working with his team across films including Annabelle Comes Home, The Nun, The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
During that time, Tracy was also making films of her own. Her short Housekeeping, shot while she was in Australia, went on to screen at LA Shorts International Film Festival and the New Hampshire Film Festival. Her follow-up horror short, Fear Filter, became a viral hit, was optioned for feature development and helped propel her narrative work to more than 15 million views online. Its success led to Tracy signing with CAA as an emerging director in the genre.
In 2021, Tracy directed and produced Witch, Please for Hulu’s Bite Size Halloween. Her short film WORTHLESS later premiered at Mammoth Film Festival, where she was nominated for Best Director: Narrative Short, and in 2024 she was selected as a television directing mentee for Ryan Murphy’s HALF Initiative. Her feature directorial debut, CLAIRE, starring Krysten Ritter and Carrie-Anne Moss, is currently slated for production in 2027.
More recently, Tracy has brought that filmmaker-first approach to branded and social storytelling, creating work for and alongside national brands including Best Buy and Papa Johns and building an original lifestyle comedy channel that generated more than 25 million views in the first year alone. Her sweet spot is entertainment-first creative: work with a strong point of view, a sense of humor and enough humanity to make someone stop scrolling and actually feel something.
Today, Tracy is continuing to develop and direct film and television while expanding her work with brands, agencies and production companies looking for cinematic, character-driven storytelling across screens of every size.
Because whether it’s a feature film or a 30-second spot, Tracy believes the best work does the same thing: breaks through the noise, finds something human, and gives people a reason to keep watching.
